Im just looking for assistance on which tablet to purchase,
can anyone tell me if a keyboard is able to be added to the thrive. also is it possible to use google docs or some sort of word, power point, excel program on it?

The 10.1″ Thrive has full HDMI and USB, the 7″ has only mini-USB and Micro-HDMI.

I need to know more about the email capabilities of the Kindle Fire. Can I receive and send email with no problems? Can I use my internet provider(gci.net) or must I go to Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo? Does the Fire store emails or other downloads?

You’re incorrect on the Thrive HDMI.
Thrive has a full-HDMI interface (not micro)

The Fire lack of 3rd party Android apps is a deal breaker for me.

My mom has a kindle but doesn’t have wi-fi so when she wants to order she has to go a wi-fi friendly environment. I heard with the fire she can order books without being in a wi-fi environment, is that true.

I have been told that you can download e-books from a library that offers them to the fire – I have also been told that you cannot on the fire, but you can on other kindles -can you get library books on the fire?

Kindle fire is really awesome. I am going to order it today.
I will definitely not spend $300 on an ipad just for the sake of a camera.
Instead with that $300 saving I will order a cool smart phone for myself which has camera, mp3 etc.

Great article! Finally a tablet that is affordable and has the main features and functionalities most frequently used by the average (common) consumer: Web, music, movies, email, books, and apps. There are lots of missing components when compared to the iPad, but again, do you really need a camera, or GPS? I use those features on my smartphone anyways. The biggest downfall of the Kindle Fire from a consumer perspective is the locked down Android Market. I am looking forward to the jailbreak of this OS; Amazon has taken an open source OS and made it into a locked down iOS…come on?!

The Fire isn’t really meant to replace the iPad is it?
It is an alternative that fits many people’s needs and becomes a reality due to the price.
